How to play + Top Tips…

Swing the ring onto the hook! Simple!

The aim of the classic game is to swing your ring onto your hook in order to push forfeits onto your opponent. Forfeits can be anything from a shot of the alcoholic beverage of your choice, household chores, exercise or pretty much anything really. If you choose to go with your favourite tipple, it goes without saying that everyone should drink responsibly!

The Classic Game

You’ll need a Hooked Game, a Shot Run and a shot glass (you’ll get one included FREE in you ‘bundle’ HERE).

  1. Pick/challenge your opponent! Face them across a table with the Hooked game between you.

  2. Place the Shot Run next to the Hooked game with an empty shot glass in the centre hole. You don’t want to spill anything in the heat of battle!

  3. Each take hold of your ring and tap them together to start. Think of it as a handshake!

  4. Continuously swing your ring to try to land it on the hook. Do not wait to take it in turns, just keep firing!

  5. When you land the ring on your hook you move the shot glass one hole closer to your opponent. They do the same when they hook their ring.

  6. The first person to move the shot glass off their opponent’s end of the Shot Run wins, and the loser drinks.

  7. TOP TIP: Don’t fill the glass until the game is over. You don’t want to spill anything as you move the glass, now do you?

It’s not all about drinking though! You can play for anything really. Why not use our Forfeit Cubes?

Top Tips

Top Tips

As with so many things in life, it’s not what you’ve got, it’s what you do with it that counts.

As with all good games, there is a considerable element of skill when it comes to Hooked; Yes people! it’s all about technique.

  • Hold it right, but not too tight.

Hold the ring where it meets the string and pointing it as if you were going to roll your ring towards your opponent. Be gentle. Guide it, don’t grip it!

  • Keep things taught

Keep the string taught as you swing. Don’t throw the ring! Swing it!

  • Curve baby!

When swinging your ring, give it a little curve. Send it out between 1 and 2 inches and watch it sail back towards the hook. If you are left handed, swing the ring to the left. If you are right handed, swing the ring to the right.

  • Just keep swinging.

Swing as many times as you can. Get into a flow of controlling the ring as it swings back to you and simply setting it off again in one smooth motion. Smooth is definitely the word.

  • Empty glass

If you are using the shot glass on the Shot Run, keep the glass empty if you can. Moving a full shot glass up and down the Shot Run will only result in spillage and that would be a waste!

Like all good games, practice makes perfect so keep playing.

Are you a Hooked game Ninja?

  • Why not make the game harder by swapping out the hooks and rings for smaller ones?

 Drink responsibly

Don’t forget that if you are using your Hooked Game for fun in the pub or bar, make sure you do so responsibly. Be Drink Aware.
